❝PREMISE.❞ |
Viridian Mansions was always advertised as a safe residential space. Consisting of 11 apartments and a penthouse, it formerly boasted generous living spaces and large rooms. Until a certain Gabriel Bole came along, bought the remaining lot of apartments and had them renovated to include more rooms. The building itself formerly belonged to Vindictus Viridian and was sold off by the family following the end of the Second War, reasons not cited. And so, as the British Wizarding World set out to rebuild itself, those searching for new homes, particular more recent graduates from Hogwarts found themselves responding to advertisments for flats for lease and for sale in The Daily Prophet. Christopher Warrington was the first -- immediately securing the recently renovated ‘penthouse’ - or, Unit 12 - in early 1999. Others filed in, one by one, either securing leases from Gabriel Bole or purchasing their own until, at last, each of the apartments were filled. The grounds were well-kept, and the Caretaker of the building, hired by Body Corporate, has always been known as a friendly, eager to please sort of gentleman. For the most part, the building was at peace -- occasional trip jinxes on Zacharias Smith aside. Until: December 13, 1999, 11:28pm. More specifically, the time of Katie Bell’s death. Hit Wizards pronounced the death a suicide, citing Miss Bell’s self-harm as the cause of her death. The sleeping potion detected on her corpse was dismissed as both Cormac McLaggen and Terence Higgs were able to confirm that she regularly used the potion to combat the insomnia she experienced post-war. However, knowing Miss Bell to be a bright soul who was both appreciative of life and not at all inclined towards negative thoughts, let alone suicidal thoughts, not everyone is quite as confident, though, that the incident was what they’ve been told to believe. Several residents of Viridian Mansions are on the verge of investigating the case further and taking matters into their own hands. |
